Granger Athletics would like to honor two very deserving athletes for athlete of the week for the previous two weeks. These athletes performed well in their respective games to earn the honor of Granger High School Athlete of the week.
Kadius Fuimaono – Football for the week of August 10 – August 15:
13-17 134 yds passing
29 rushes 172 yds 2 TDs
Beat Syracuse who was number 17 in the state
Christina Malaeulu – Volleyball for the week of August 17 – August 22:
After sitting out varsity due to transferring last year Christina has hit the ground running (our offense that is). She is a dual threat on our offense driving teams crazy with sly dump sets and great distribution to our hitters. While in the front row she plays far above her size blocking against the opponents big hitters and confounding them as she routinely gets the better of them with all 5’3”(being quite generous there) of her height. But her blocking comes as a result of her tireless efforts to work out and improve herself outside of our gym on her own time. It only get better for opposing teams, because while up front when not providing inspired net play she also packs quite the punch in her Hitting attacks. Often a player of her size is expected to roll shot the ball into play, she goes for the kill and does it trying to tear the leather off the ball on her hardest swings. Lastly, in maybe her most important role, she is our teams on-court captain. As a coach I can trust her to have appropriate and knowledgeable discussions with the referees and her teammates know that she is there to push, support, and encourage them when times get tough and keep them focused on our objectives when things are good. Christina has also been voted on to our Programs Leadership Council by her teammates as one of the top vote getters.
